1.    Suspension of the service associated with the replacement of the system B/C (Suspension of the Whole system)

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Current System B/C are schedule to be replaced to new systems in the end of December.

The whole systems are expected to be suspended for about one week because of the replacement.

We will inform you as soon as the detailed schedule is decided.

2.    Scheduled Maintenance in December

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Due to a scheduled maintenance, our supercomputer services will be suspended as below:

 

    Date and time: 9:00 a.m. on December 6 (Tue) - 9:30 a.m. on December 7 (Wed)

    Services to be suspended: System A, B, C, D, E , ENVI/IDL licensing, HPCI account services, Large-Format Printer, and User Portal

3.    Deadline for billing of usage fee of January

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Billing of the usage fee of January is determined as of Dec 14 (Wed) at 17:00 and will be processed.

Please note that the application after the due date will be charged in March.

 

In addition, changing the payment item also should be done by the due date.

4.    Additional call for application of FY 2016 service course (Starting from January)

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

We are additionally calling for the application of FY 2016 service course in the following schedule.

Please note that this is an additional call and the amount of the computing resources to be offered is limited.

 

    Courses:

        -Group course (Type A1, A2, A3, C1, C2, E1, E2, E3)

        -Personal course (Type A, C, E)

        -Large-scale job course (Type A, E)

    Application period: From December 1 (Thu) to December 20 (Tue), 2016  No later than 17:00

    Estimated starting date of the service: January 5 (Thu), 2017

5.    Call for proposals of the Supercomputer Educational Use Project for FY2017

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies (ACCMS) calls for proposals of

the Supercomputer Educational Use Project for classes requiring the use of supercomputer systems

at graduate school, university, or technical college which are conducted by

instructors of university, junior college or technical college.

 

We are calling for the application of the Supercomputer Educational Use Project in FY 2017

in the following schedule.

 

 Application period: From November 15 (Tue) to December 22 (Thu), 2016  No later than 12:00

6.    Call for collaborate research project for FY 2017 Joint Usage/Research Center for Interdisciplinary Large-scale Information Infrastructures (JHPCN)

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The Joint Usage/Research Center for Interdisciplinary Large-scale Information Infrastructures

is made up of eight centers equipped with supercomputers.

These centers are the Information Initiative Center of Hokkaido University,

the Cyberscience Center of Tohoku University, the Information Technology Center of the University of Tokyo,

the Global Scientific Information and Computing Center of the Tokyo Institute of Technology,

the Information Technology Center of Nagoya University, the Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies of Kyoto University,

the Cybermedia Center of Osaka University, and the Research Institute for Information Technology of Kyushu University.

This is a network-type joint usage and collaborative research center,

and its core institution is the Information Technology Center of the University of Tokyo.

 

From FY 2013, the JHPCN centers, as part of the High Performance Computer Infrastructure (HPCI),

are responsible for the operation of those joint research resources named HPCI-JHPCN system.

Please note the following points.

 

    HPCI-JHPCN system is used on the project using supercomputer

    Usage fee for the facilities shall not be charged in the basic use of HPCI-JHPCN system.

    Project application guideline as well as webpage for the project application differs by whether or not using HPCI-JHPCN system.

At the Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies, Kyoto University (ACCMS),

we are regularly holding programming seminars for the efficient use

and the improvement of the programming skills for users.

 

At our Seminar on December 1 (Thu), 2016, we invite an instructor from the US head office of Clay Inc.

and give a lecture on the Cray XC40 programming environment.
