1. Notification of the Software Update
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
The Supercomputer Systems have been updated upon the completion
of the year-end maintenance work started on March 30, 2016.
This update includes the followings:
New Versions of the Software
Changes in Default Versions When Configuring Modules

2. The result of Satisfaction Survey (2016 spring)
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
With respect to the use of supercomputers, we have carried out
a satisfaction survey (2016 spring) for the period from Mar 1, 2016
to Mar 29, 2016 and received 93 answers.
Based on the survey results, we will strive to improve our service quality.

3. Call for Application of FY2016 Service Course (2nd Stage)
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
We are calling for the application of service course for FY 2016 in the following schedule.
Please note that we may ask you to adjust the amount of resources that you request
depending on the situation since each course has its limitation in available computing resources.
We appreciate for your understanding and cooperation.
The current supercomputer system is scheduled to end the service on Mon. August 15, 2016
except for some systems and be replaced to a new system.
Therefore, please note that the period of use the system is different from the usual.
○Period of use
System A, B, C and D : From Mon. May 16, 2016 to Mon. August 15, 2016
System E : From Mon. May 16, 2016 to the end of March, 2017
(the service will be suspended from Mon. August 15, 2016 to the beginning of October)
New system : From the beginning of October, 2016 to the end of March, 2017
○Application Period : From Fri. April 8, 2016 to Thu. April 28, 2016 at 17:00
○Courses : Group course, Personal course, Large-scale job course (from July to August)

4. Notification of the Programming Seminar 2016

we are regularly holding programming seminars for the efficient use
and the improvement of the programming technology for users.

Application period: From Tue. April 26 to Tue. May 24
Training content: Lecture on how to use the supercomputer, and the basics
and the tuning of programming on the large scale parallel computation
【No.4】Introduction to Xeon Phi programming
Date: Fri. June 3, 2016
Application period: From Mon. May 2 to Wed. June 1
Content: Lecture and hands-on training on Xeon Phi programming

5. Handling of non-continuation users’ file assets
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
We will delete files of non-continuation users of FY2016 from June 2016.
Please migrate and backup necessary file assets by the end of May.
File assets to be deleted or organized are as follows.
○Home Directory of non-continuation user
○Large-volume disk space which non-continuation group of FY2016 possess

「XMLクエリ処理における通信コストの評価」

学術情報メディアセンターでは，月に一度，各分野でご活躍の講師をお招きし，
それぞれの研究開発活動の内容や現在抱えている課題についてご紹介いただき，
参加者を含めて広く議論を行う機会として，月例セミナーを開催しております．
5月17日の本セミナーでは，学術情報メディアセンターに客員教授として
赴任されている韓国・忠南大学のJi-Hoon Kang氏にご講演いただきます．
