1. New supercomputer system

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The current supercomputer system is scheduled to end the service

on August 15, 2016 (Mon) and be replaced to a new system.

The new system is scheduled to be released around October 2016.

A bid opening was carried out on April 28, 2016 and the system configuration

was determined as follows.

New system is made up by three systems and a storage

which inherited the concept of the current system

and have a total performance of 6.5 PFlops (6.6 times than the current system),

total memory capacity of 351 TB(2.4 times than the current system)

and total physical capacity of 24 PB (3.0 times than the current system).

１）New System A (nickname: Camphor 2)

・Number of Nodes   ： 1800 Nodes

・Performance       ： 5.48 PFlops

・Memory Capacity   ： 196.9 TB

２）New System B (nickname: Laurel 2)

・Processor /Node   ： 1.21 TFlops, 36 Core (x86 Architecture)

・Memory/Node       ： 128 GB

・Number of Nodes   ： 850 Nodes

・Performance       ： 1.03 PFlops

・Memory Capacity   ： 106.3 TB

３）New System C (nickname: Cinnamon 2)

・Processor /Node   ： 2.65 TFlops, 72 Core (x86 Architecture)

・Memory/Node       ： 3 TB

・Number of Nodes   ： 16 Nodes

・Performance       ： 42.4 TFlops

・Memory Capacity   ： 48.0 TB

４）New Storage System

・Total physical capacity ： 24 PB

・Data transfer rate      ： 150 GB/sec

2. Announcement of the scheduled maintenance

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Due to the scheduled maintenance as below,

our supercomputer services will be suspended.

〇Period: From 9:00 a.m. on June 7 (Tue) to 9:30 a.m. on June 8 (Wed)

〇Range affected：System A, B, C, D, E , ENVI/IDL licensing, HPCI account services, Large-Format Printer, and User Portal

3. Release of LS-DYNA Version R8.1.0

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Latest version of LS-DYNA, R8.1.0 has been released.

4. Notification of the Programming Seminar 2016 (Reposting)

we are regularly holding programming seminars for the efficient use

and the improvement of the programming technology for users.

Training content: Lecture on how to use the supercomputer, and the basics

and the tuning of programming on the large scale parallel computation

Date: Fri. June 3, 2016

Application period: From Mon. May 2 to Wed. June 1

Content: Lecture and hands-on training on XeonPhi programming

5. Handling of non-continuation users’ file assets (Reposting)

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

We will delete files of non-continuation users of FY 2016 from June 2016.

Please migrate and backup necessary file assets by the end of May.

File assets to be deleted or organized are as follows.

○Home Directory of non-continuation user

○Large-volume disk space which non-continuation group of FY2016 possess

"Forefront of the tsunami disaster analysis by supercomputer and the stochastic risk assessment of the nature disaster"
