1.     Service Hours During Year-End and New Year Periods

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

During the upcoming Year-end and New Year periods, our service hours are as follows:

 

Supercomputer Systems:

Services are available throughout the Year-end and New Year holidays.

 

The Large-Format Printer:

The room is closed at 5:00 p.m. on Fri. December 28, 2018 and

is opened at 9:00 a.m. on Fri. January 4, 2019.

 

As for the inquiries during the period, we will correspond sequentially after January 4, 2019.

We appreciate for your understanding and cooperation in advance.

2.     Supercomputer Continuation Application to the following FY2019

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

We will send "Supercomputer User List" described users of this fiscal year

to the payment managers in late January.

 

It is possible to make a continuation application easily by indicating

the "continuation" or "discontinuation" in the list and returning it to us

by the deadline if there is no change in the application contents.

If there is a change in the application contents, please note that

it is necessary to submit an" Application Form for Large Scale Computer Systems"

(計算機利用申請書).

 

The deadline for the continuation application shall be at 5:00 p.m. on Fri. February 22.

*** Notes ***

Although the procedure is possible even if you miss the deadline,

it may not be in time for the start of the service in April.

Please keep the deadline.

 

By making the continuation application, we continue registration of

the user number (login ID) as an entry course.

If you use group course or personal course, it is necessary to submit

an "Service Course Application Form" (サービス申請書).

Please make sure to apply.

 

We have mailed the notice for the continuation application to users as well up until now,

however, we will abolish the mailing the notice to users from this fiscal year.

Please share the notice and information directed to the payment managers with related users.

3.     Call for Application of FY 2019 Service Course (1st Stage)

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

We call for application of the FY2019 Service Course starting from April 2019

in the following schedule.

This call is between fiscal years and details of the usage fees

and the application periods are different from the usual.

Please note that we may ask you to adjust the amount of resources

since each course has its limitation in available computing resources.

We appreciate for your understandings and cooperation in advance.

Private Cluster Course, Organization Fixed Rate  From Fri. January 11, 2019 to Fri. February 15, 2019 No later than 5:00 p.m.

4.     Call for collaborate research project for FY 2019 Joint Usage/Research Center

for Interdisciplinary Large-scale Information Infrastructures (JHPCN)Reposting

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The Joint Usage/Research Center for Interdisciplinary Large-scale Information

Infrastructures (JHPCN) calls for joint research projects for fiscal year 2019.

JHPCN is a "Network-Type" Joint Usage/Research Center, certified by

the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology,

and comprises eight super-computer equipped centers

affiliated with Hokkaido University, Tohoku University, The University of Tokyo,

Tokyo Institute of Technology, Nagoya University, Kyoto University, Osaka University

and Kyushu University, among which Information Technology Center at

the University of Tokyo is functioning as the core institution of JHPCN.

Each JHPCN member institution will provide its research resources

for joint research projects.

5.     "K" x Post "K" Symposium - SimulationAIBig data -Reposting

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Supercomputers are indispensable for achieving the "Society 5.0" which we aim for.

Many achievements ranging from basic research to the application to the industry

have been created by supercomputer "K".

And now, in the post "K" which is under development for the full-scale operation in 2021,

there are great expectations not only for the simulation but also for the application to

the AI research and the data science.

We will introduce the further leap from "K" to the post "K" and its possibilities.

7.     ACCMS seminar "Communication/Network and Supercomputer"

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies (ACCMS) holds a seminar

once in a month.

We are inviting active researchers from variety of areas,

and ask them to give talks about their research activity or issues in performing research,

hoping to provide an opportunity for fruitful discussion among participants.

 

At ACCMS Seminar on January 23, 2019, we will hold a joint symposium of

α×SC2019K communication/network and supercomputer.

We are inviting Assoc. Prof. Takeshi Nanri(Research Institute for Information Technology, Kyushu University),

Ken T. Murata (National Institute of Information and Communications Technology),

Yoshinori Kitatsuji (KDDI Research, Inc.), Prof. Naoki Shinohara (Research Institute for

Sustainable Humanosphere, Kyoto University), Ken Washikita (Sakura Internet Inc. Research)

and Daisuke Kotani (Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies, Kyoto University).

 

We hope to have a lot of participants.

External participants are also welcome.
