1.     Notification of the Software Update

The Supercomputer Systems have been updated upon the completion

of the year-end maintenance work started on March 28, 2018.

Newly introduced software information and changes in configuration files

are described.

2.     The result of Satisfaction Survey (2018 spring)

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

We have carried out a satisfaction survey (2018 spring) regarding

the use of our supercomputers for the period from March 1st, 2018

to March 27, 2018 and received 66 answers.

Based on the survey results, we will strive to improve our service quality.

6.     Call for members of HPCI Consortium Satellite

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The HPCI consortium are aiming to get further understanding for HPCI

and the development of the supercomputers from more people.

As part of that, we have opened a registration site of the

satellite member on our website.

Satellite members can receive the following information transmitted by

the HPCI consortium.

7.     Call for participation of RIKEN International HPC Summer School 2018

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

RIKEN Center for Computational Science (R-CCS) will be holding a summer school

to give young researchers in computational science

an opportunity to learn programming techniques for parallel computers,

aiming to foster scientists who will lead the field on the international stage

in the future.

Scientists from R-CCS will provide lectures and the K computer will be used

for hands-on training.

This program will be provided in English.

 

Date: From Mon. July 2 to Wed. July 4, 2018

 

Venue: Auditorium, 6th floor of the R-CSS building in Kobe, Japan

Expenses: RIKEN will pay for students' travel and accommodation expenses.

          in accordance with RIKEN regulations.

 

Maximum number of participants: Approximately 20.

Qualifications:

Eligible individuals are as follows.

Students who reside in Japan and are enrolled in a graduate program, post-doctoral scientists,

and early career scientists affiliated with universities or research institutions.

Scientists and engineers affiliated with private companies.

 

2nd CEA-RIKEN HPC School will be held on July 5 and 6 at the same venue.
 RIKEN International HPC Summer School participants may participate in this program.
 Further information about this program will be provided to summer school participant separately.

 

Notes:

Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

However, necessary adjustment may be made to avoid having a large number of participants

from one university or institution.

Ideal participants have programming experience using C or Fortran, have used Linux

(at least can use an editor on Linux), and have basic parallel programing experience.

Non-residents in Japan need to consult with us for participation as use of supercomputers is

restricted to only residents in Japan by the related law.

Bring your own laptop computer with you for the summer school

Full participation for the duration of the program is required, in principle.
