1.     Call for proposals of research project using HPCI computing resources in FY 2021

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The supercomputer "Fugaku" is scheduled to be shared use from FY 2021.

Research Organization for Information Science and Technology (RIST)

which has been designated as the Registered Institution for Facilities Use Promotion

as well as HPCI Operations Office will call for proposals

for research projects using the HPCI computing resources

including the flagship system "Fugaku" from August 25, 2020.

 

Guideline of call for proposals and the schedule of the briefing meeting are as follows.

Please apply within a period if you wish.

  Online Submission Opens Tue. October 6, 2020

  Online Submission ClosesThu. November 5, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.(JST)

   Deadline of Printed Project Proposals with Stamps or Signature: Wed. November 18, 2020 (must-arrive)

  Announcement of awardsMiddle of February, 2021

  Project Period  :From April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022 (For one year)

          :From April 1, 2021 to September 30, 2021 For half a year

 

A briefing meetings are held on the following schedule.

Participation is free, but advance application is required.

 

  No.1 Online Meeting: Thu. September 24, 15:00 p.m. - 16:30 p.m.

   No.2 Online Meeting: Thu. October 8, 14:00 p.m. - 15:30 p.m.

2.     Former versions of ISV softwares are not recommended

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Due to changes in the vendor's license policy, the former versions of

Maple and ENVI / IDL will be handled as follows.

 

Maple

Since only the last 3 versions are supported, we will not recommend

version 2016, 2017, and 2018 among the currently provided versions

These versions will be terminated at the end of March 2021.

 

ENVI/IDL

Since only the last 3 versions are supported, we will not recommend

ENVI / version 55 and IDL / version 87.

These versions will be terminated at the end of March 2021.

 

If you are using these versions, please switch to the supported versions.

3.     Change of the upper limit of the number of jobs that can be submitted

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

It was set that up to 10,000 jobs are allowed to be submitted per queue until now.

However, it was confirmed that the response of the job scheduler slowed down

significantly due to the excessive number of jobs waiting to be executed.

With this maintenance, the upper limit of the job submission has been changed

to 1,000 jobs.

We apologize for any inconvenience. Thank for your understanding.

4.     ACCMS seminar "Phenomenon uncertainty and numerical simulation"

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

ACCMS holds a seminar once in a month.

We are inviting active researchers from variety of areas,

and ask them to give talks about their research activity or issues in performing research,

hoping to provide an opportunity for fruitful discussion among participants.

 

At ACCMS Seminar on October 22, 2020, we hold a seminar

titled "Phenomenon uncertainty and numerical simulation".

 

We are looking forward to the participation of many people both inside and outside the university.

ACCMS holds a seminar once in a month.

We are inviting active researchers from variety of areas,

and ask them to give talks about their research activity or issues in performing research,

hoping to provide an opportunity for fruitful discussion among participants.

 

At ACCMS Seminar on November 6, 2020, we have a joint event with

a symposium on α × SC2020 fieldwork and supercomputers and invite

Prof. Toshiharu Ninomiya (Faculty of Medical Sciences, Kyushu University),

Masato Akiyama (Faculty of Medical Sciences, Kyushu University),

Assoc. Prof. Shinya Yamamoto (Institute for Advanced Study, Kyoto University),

Prof. Yuichi Nakamura (Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies, Kyoto University),

and Prof. Shin Suzuki (Aichi University).

 

We are looking forward to the participation of many people both inside and outside the university.
