1.     ImportantThe Security Export Control Laws to Strengthen the Regulations of “Deemed Export Controls

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The revision of the Security Export Control Laws to strengthen

the Regulations of Deemed Export Controls was enforced on May 1, 2022

and it requires that even if technology is provided by a resident to a resident,

if the resident who is the recipient is strongly influenced by a non-resident

(a "specific category"), the provision of technology to the resident

(the "person falling under the specific category") is deemed to be the provision of

technology to the non-resident and is subject to the foreign transaction regulations.

Please contact us if you fall under the specific category.

2.     ImportantChange in the format of the "Application Form for Large-scale Computer System”

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

In accordance with the Security Export Control Laws to strengthen the regulations of

“Deemed Export Controls”, the format of the " Application Form for Large-scale Computer System”

has been changed.

Please be sure to submit the new form when submitting a new application.

Please see the following URL for details.

3.     Scheduled Maintenance

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Due to scheduled maintenance, we will suspend the supercomputer services

of some systems on the next schedule.

This maintenance targets the login node and the WEB server,

and the job execution on the computing node will be continued.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Date and time: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Wed. June 8

Services to be suspended: Login node of System A, B, and C,

ENVI/IDL licensing, HPCI account services, and User Portal

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

4.      Trial Start of the Network Storage Service

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

We have started offering a network storage service on a trial basis

to expand our research data storage environment and data collection infrastructure

from May 24, 2022.

During the trial period, 100GB of the storage space is available

free of charge per user.

Protocols which is available for the storage access is FTPS and S3

(AmazonS3 compatible).

User account is required to use the network storage service.

For details on how to issue a user account and how to use the service,

please refer to the following website.

https://web.kudpc.kyoto-u.ac.jp/manual/en/s3

5.     Handling of Files in StorageReposting

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

We will migrate the files during the upcoming system replacement.

Migration of many files requires a lot of time.

To shorten the service suspension period, please help us to organize unnecessary files.

It is especially important to reduce the number of files.

It would be helpful if you could reduce the number of files by combining multiple files

into a tar file.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

6.     Disclosure of the failure status of the compute nodeReposting

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

We have started to disclose the failure information of compute nodes

and affected job IDs on the following website.

https://web.kudpc.kyoto-u.ac.jp/problems

If a failure of the compute node is suspected,

please enter the job ID in the input field of the website.

If a job is terminated abnormally (or re-executed) due to the compute node,

the failure information which caused the failure will be displayed.

7.     Call for Collaborative Research Project for FX700 "Trial Use" and "Small Node Use" for FY2022Reposting

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

ACCMS calls for proposals of the collaborative research project

for the “Trial Use" and the "Small Node Use" of the Fujitsu FX700

which is equipped with the same ARM processor as the supercomputer Fugaku

for research groups using our supercomputer with the Group Course in the fiscal year 2022.

The "Trial Use" of FX700 is intended to be widely tried by the users of our supercomputer

by making the application form simple.

The research report is also simplified and only operation report and performance report

of the executed application are required.

The collaborative research project for the "Small Node Use" will be adopted

from users who have already finished the operation confirmation of the application

on the "FX700 Trial Use". Submitted proposals are reviewed

by Supercomputer System Collaborative Research Planning Committee.

If your proposal is adopted, you will be required to submit a research report.

There is no cost burden for using this project.

Deadline for application submission: 5:00 p.m. on the 15th of each month
