1. Suspension of the supercomputer service due to scheduled power outage and maintenance

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Please be informed that our supercomputer services will be suspended

during the following period due to scheduled power outage and maintenance.

〇Date and time: 6:30 a.m. on Mon. September 18 - 1:00 p.m. on Thu. September 21

〇Services to be suspended: System A, B, C, G and Cloud, ENVI/IDL licensing,

                            HPCI account services, Large-Format Printer, and User Portal

Supercomputer services will not be available during the periods.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and

appreciate for your understanding and cooperation.

2. Call for Application of FY2023 Service Course (4th Stage)

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

We are calling for the additional application for the FY2023 Service Course (4th Stage)

in the following schedule.

Please note that we may ask you to adjust the amount of resources

that you request depending on the situation since each course has its limitation

in available computing resources.

〇Systems: System A, B, C and G

〇Courses:

  - Personal course

  - Group course

  - Increase of the Storage Capacity

  - Increase of the High Speed Storage Capacity

  - Virtual Server Hosting Service

〇Application Period：From Wed. August 23, 2023 to Wed. September 13, 2023 at 5:00 p.m.

〇Services to be Effective：October 1, 2023

3. Trial Offer of Camphor3 (System A)

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

We are now ready to offer Camphor3 (System A) on a trial basis

to all users of our center as follows.

All users are available at no additional cost during the trial operation period.

Please make use of this service to check the performance

and to prepare for the official service start in October.

4. Start of the High-Speed Storage Service

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The large volume disk /LARGE0 and /LARGE1 are configured to provide both capacity

and throughput by using a large number of HDDs.

The high-speed storage is a storage with high throughput by using SSDs.

In FY2023, we will grant the right to use it for all applicants of the Group Course

and Personal Course as a trial period.

We hope you will take advantage of this service to run applications

that require high I/O performance.

5. Notification of the Programming Seminar 2023

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

At the Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies, Kyoto University (ACCMS),

we are regularly holding programming seminars for the efficient use

and the improvement of the programming skills for users.

【No.4】Introduction to Paraview

    Date：Tue. October24  10:30 a.m.-5:15 p.m.

    Application period：From Fri. September 1 to Thu. October 19

    Training content：Lecture and hands-on training on Paraview

6. Bills of the usage fees to be issued in October, 2023（Reposting）

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Bills of the usage fees for FY 2023 are scheduled to be issued in October, January, and March.

The bills to be issued in October are determined in the following schedule.

Please complete the necessary procedure within the due date

if you need to change the payment item or the billing month.

○Deadline for the changes：Thu. September 14, 2023, at 5:00 p.m.

　　・Contracts after the due date will be billed in January.

　　・Please note that you cannot change the payment item after the bill is determined.

○How to change the payment item：

  You can change the payment item by User Portal or Service Course Application Form.

7. Call for Collaborative Research Project for FX700 "Trial Use" and "Small Node Use" for FY2023（Reposting）

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

ACCMS calls for proposals of the collaborative research project

for the “Trial Use" and the "Small Node Use" of the Fujitsu FX700

which is equipped with the same ARM processor as the supercomputer Fugaku

for research groups using our supercomputer with the Group Course in the fiscal year 2023.

The "Trial Use" of FX700 is intended to be widely tried by the users of our supercomputer

by making the application form simple.

The research report is also simplified and only operation report and performance report

of the executed application are required.

The collaborative research project for the "Small Node Use" will be adopted

from users who have already finished the operation confirmation of the application

on the "FX700 Trial Use". Submitted proposals are reviewed

by Supercomputer System Collaborative Research Planning Committee.

If your proposal is adopted, you will be required to submit a research report.

There is no cost burden for using this project.

     Deadline for application submission: 5:00 p.m. on the 20th of each month

8. 【Special ACCMS Seminar】"Practical Support of the Research Data Management in Universities: The Case of the University of Vienna"（Reposting）

ACCMS holds monthly seminars inviting researchers who are active in variety of fields

to give talks about their research activity or current issues

and provide an opportunity to discuss them with participants.

At Special ACCMS Seminar on August 29, 2023, we will invite Dr. Susanne Blumesberger

and Mr. Raman Ganguly of University of Vienna.

of the university.
