1.     Scheduled Maintenance in December

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Due to a scheduled maintenance, our supercomputer services will be suspended as below:

Date and time: 9:00 a.m. on Thu. December 7 - 9:30 a.m. on Fri. December 8

Services to be suspended: System A, B, C, E , ENVI/IDL licensing, HPCI account services, Large-Format Printer, and User Portal

2.     Deadline for billing of usage fee of JanuaryReposting

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Billing of the usage fee of January is determined as of Wed. December 13 at 5:00 p.m.

and will be processed.

Please note that the application after the due date will be charged in March.

 

In addition, changing the payment item also should be done by the due date.

3.     The result of Satisfaction Survey (2017 Autumn)

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

With respect to the use of supercomputers, we have carried out a satisfaction survey (2017 Autumn)

for the period from October 2, 2017 to October 30, 2017 and received 61 answers.

Based on the survey results, we will strive to improve our service quality.

4.     Additional call for application of FY 2017 service course (Start on January)

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

We additionally call for the application of the FY2017 Service Course starting from January 2018 in the following schedule.

Please note that we may ask you to adjust the amount of resources that you request depending on the situation

since each course has its limitation in available computing resources.

We appreciate for your understanding and cooperation.

 

Courses:

         -Group course (Type A1, A2, A3, E1, E2, E3)

         -Personal course (Type A, E)

         -Large-scale job course (Type A, E: from February to March)

Application period: From Fri. December 1 to Wed. December 20 at 5:00 p.m.

Estimated starting date of the service: Thu. January 4, 2018

5.     Call for proposals of the Supercomputer Educational Use Project for FY2018

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies (ACCMS) calls for proposals of

the Supercomputer Educational Use Project for classes requiring the use of supercomputer systems

at graduate school, university, or technical college which are conducted by

instructors of university, junior college or technical college.

 

We are calling for the application of the Supercomputer Educational Use Project in FY2018

in the following schedule.

 

Application period: From Tue. November 7 to Thu. December 21, 2017  No later than 12:00

6.     Call for collaborate research project for FY 2018 Joint Usage/Research Center for Interdisciplinary Large-scale Information Infrastructures (JHPCN)

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

The Joint Usage/Research Center for Interdisciplinary Large-scale Information Infrastructures (JHPCN)

calls for joint research projects for fiscal year 2018. JHPCN is a "Network-Type" Joint Usage/Research Center,

certified by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and comprises eight super-computer equipped centers

affiliated with Hokkaido University, Tohoku University, The University of Tokyo, Tokyo Institute of Technology,

Nagoya University, Kyoto University, Osaka University and Kyushu University,

among which Information Technology Center at the University of Tokyo is functioning as the core institution of JHPCN.

Each JHPCN member institution will provide its research resources for joint research projects.

Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies (ACCMS) holds a seminar once in a month.

We are inviting active researchers from a variety of areas, and ask them to give talks about their research activity

or issues in performing research, hoping to provide an opportunity for fruitful discussion among participants.

On an ACCMS seminar on December 12, we invite Mr. Stephen Abrams at California Digital Library.

We hope to have a lot of participants.
