1. Deadline for Bills of the usage fees to be issued in January, 2024

The bills of the usage fees to be issued in January are determined
as of Fri. Dec 8 at 5:00 p.m. and processed.
Please note that the applications received after the due date will be
billed in March.
Please apply for the change of the payment item by the due date.

Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies, Kyoto University (ACCMS)
calls for proposals of the Collaborative Research Project for Enhancing
Performance of Programming for the purpose of the performance evaluation and
the performance bottleneck analysis of the large-scale computation programs
for the fiscal year 2023. This call is designed for the Group Course users
(including those who are in application process) or the Personal Course users
who are planning to switch to the Group Course at the next additional calls
for the application of the Service Course.
Submitted proposals are reviewed by Supercomputer System Collaborative Research
Planning Committee. As for the adopted proposals, the adopted applicants and
the faculty members of the ACCMS will conduct the joint research
for the performance evaluation and the performance bottleneck analysis
and the ACCMS will bears the cost.
Full-scale tuning and tuning based on the results are scheduled to be conducted
in the Collaborative Research Project for Enhancing Performance of Programming
(regular version) to be offered in FY 2024.

3. Call for Collaborative Research Project for Large-Scale Computation for FY 2023 (3rd Period)
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies, Kyoto University (ACCMS)
calls for proposals of collaborative research on large-scale computing programs
for research groupsthat uses the supercomputer system through group course
(including those who are in application process) in FY 2023.
Submitted proposals are reviewed by "Supercomputer System Collaborative
Research Planning Committee" of the ACCMS. As for the adopted proposals,
the adopted applicants and the faculty members of the ACCMS will conduct
the joint research and the ACCMS bears the usage fee of the large-scale
job course within a certain amount.
This project period is from February 2024 to March 2024.

We are calling for the additional application for the FY2023 Service Course

Please note that we may ask you to adjust the amount of resources
that you request depending on the situation since each course has its limitation
in available computing resources.

5. Call for proposals for research projects using the HPCI System in Period-A of FY2024（Reposting）
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
ACCMS is participating in the HPCI which is intended to provide a framework
and structure so that users of high performance computing (HPC) who tend to
be isolated locally can efficiently utilize the nation-wide high performance
computing resources.
Schedule of the call for proposals for the research projects using the HPCI system
including Fugaku in Period-A of FY2024 is as follows.

6. Start of the High-Speed Storage Service（Reposting）
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
The large volume disk /LARGE0 and /LARGE1 are configured to provide both capacity
and throughput by using a large number of HDDs.
The high-speed storage is a storage with high throughput by using SSDs.
In FY2023, we will grant the right to use it for all applicants of the Group Course
and Personal Course as a trial period.
We hope you will take advantage of this service to run applications
that require high I/O performance.

7. Call for Collaborative Research Project for FX700 "Trial Use" and "Small Node Use" for FY2023（Reposting）
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
ACCMS calls for proposals of the collaborative research project
for the “Trial Use" and the "Small Node Use" of the Fujitsu FX700
which is equipped with the same ARM processor as the supercomputer Fugaku
for research groups using our supercomputer with the Group Course in the fiscal year 2023.
The "Trial Use" of FX700 is intended to be widely tried by the users of our supercomputer
by making the application form simple.
The research report is also simplified and only operation report and performance report
of the executed application are required.
The collaborative research project for the "Small Node Use" will be adopted
from users who have already finished the operation confirmation of the application
on the "FX700 Trial Use". Submitted proposals are reviewed
by Supercomputer System Collaborative Research Planning Committee.
If your proposal is adopted, you will be required to submit a research report.
There is no cost burden for using this project.
Deadline for application submission: 5:00 p.m. on the 20th of each month

8. 【ACCMS Seminar】"Support for Research Data Management in Japanese Universities"
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
ACCMS holds monthly seminars inviting researchers who are active in variety of fields
to give talks about their research activity or current issues
and provide an opportunity to discuss them with participants.
At ACCMS Seminar on November,24 2023, we will invite Yusuke Komiyama of
National Institute of Informatics and Hideyuki Jitsumoto of RIKEN.
We are looking forward to your participation from both inside and outside
of the university.
